Variety recently named Inon Zur one of the top music talents in interactive entertainment.
The sweeping and romantic fantasy music for Ubisoft’s “Prince of Persia” video game series brings to life the dramatic emotion of the epic story, seamlessly blending the majesty of the symphony with evocative, exotic eastern ethnic instrumentation. Elsewhere in the fantasy genre he elevates the massively successful fantasy online role playing universe “EverQuest II” to new emotional heights; Official EverQuest Magazine hailing his music as “One of the most vital components in the Norrathian experience.” In the realm of action sci-fi Zur created the oft-described ‘otherworldly’ soundtrack for Crytek/EA’s innovative first person blockbuster “Crysis,” manipulating the orchestra to invoke the alien influences in the game. Another critically acclaimed assignment was the atmospheric orchestral-hybrid score for the post-nuclear wasteland in Bethesda’s “Fallout 3”, featuring discordant strings and percussion instrumentation fused with experimental ambient sounds. “Fallout 3” was nominated for a prestigious BAFTA Games Award for Best Original Score. Spike TV viewers also enjoyed the “Fallout 3” score, nominating it for Best Original Score at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
Zur’s score for “Dragon Age: Origins,” BioWare/EA’s epic fantasy role playing video game, is his most accomplished yet. Expressing an array of powerful emotions with eloquent dramatic orchestrations and stirring ethereal vocals, the score and songs are crafted and woven to narrate the epic story. Zur composed, conducted and produced the “Dragon Age: Origins” score with the acclaimed Northwest Sinfonia Orchestra. Lyrics for the “Dragon Age: Origins” opening theme were co-written and performed by celebrated singer/songwriter Aubrey Ashburn. They also collaborated on the music and lyrics for the Elvish ballad I Am The One which was awarded Best Original Song at The Hollywood Music In Media Awards. Music from “Dragon Age: Origins” was debuted live during A Night in Fantasia 2009 performed by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Australia. The “Dragon Age: Origins Original Soundtrack” is available at digital music stores including Amazon and iTunes.
